Being an External Regulator in an Adlerian Play Therapy Session

This 3-hour training guides play therapists practicing Adlerian Play Therapy on how and why they might incorporate the Synergetic Play Therapy concept of “being the external regulator” into their play therapy sessions. First, it will focus on the value and purpose of being an external regulator, then it will connect this to the Adlerian concepts of the Crucial C’s, temperament and personality priorities. Finally, it will cover strategies for integrating this technique into Adlerian sessions.

Objectives:

Play Therapists will be able to verbalize the role of becoming an external regulator in an Adlerian Play Therapy session.
Play Therapists will be able to describe the connection between being an external regulator and supporting the client’s Crucial C’s, temperament and personality priorities in session.
Play Therapists will learn 3 strategies for integrating the external regulator technique into Adlerian Play Therapy sessions.
