Description: This is a three-hour training that teaches neuro-affirming language and activities for use in play therapy sessions, and with parents of play therapy clients. The first portion of the training involves psychoeducation on neuro-affirming language and a strength-based perspective on neurodivergence. The second portion focuses on strategies for building self-worth and parenting approaches using neuro-affirming approaches.
Participants will be able to describe neurodivergence in a neuro-affirming framework focused on qualities and skills rather than differences or deficits during play therapy sessions.
Participants will have learned two interventions for building self-worth and self-awareness in neurodivergent clients in play therapy sessions.
Participants will understand how to develop resumes and other tools that support a play therapy client’s support systems to meet their needs such as schools, homes, and day cares.
